Sample Pulse Survey Questions

Pulse surveys stay short and focused, usually one theme per round:

  • Current workload and capacity
  • Manager support right now
  • Clarity of priorities
  • Connection to the team
  • Confidence in direction
  • For B2B: whether anything is currently getting in the way of serving customers

Most pulse surveys ask about these themes the wrong way. “How satisfied are you with your workload this week?” and “Do you feel valued by your manager?” invite quick, flat, agreeable answers, which defeats the purpose of asking often. Questions Interaction Metrics writes instead:

  • Compared to last week, is your workload lighter, about the same, or heavier?
  • This week, when you needed something from your manager, how did that go?
  • What’s one thing slowing you down right now that leadership could fix?
  • What’s one thing going well this week worth keeping?
  • For customer-facing roles: what’s currently getting in the way of serving customers well?
  • What should leadership pay attention to this month?
